Microsclerotherapy

A Precise Treatment for Spider Veins

If you're bothered by small, visible veins on your legs known as spider veins, microsclerotherapy may be an excellent treatment option for you. This minimally invasive procedure is the gold standard treatment option for spider veins. This technique uses very fine needles to inject a sclerosing solution directly into the tiny veins, causing them to collapse and fade away over time.
What makes microsclerotherapy unique is its ability to target even the smallest spider veins with great precision. Dr Teo utilises the DermLite Syris system to further enhance visualization and precision of these potentially tiny veins. This technology improves the ability to see blue to purple colored vessels and reduces glare, allowing for more precise treatment.
The DermLite Syris Advantage
The DermLite Syris is a handheld device that combines polarized light and magnification to give your doctor an incredibly detailed view of your spider veins. Here's how it helps:

• The polarized light penetrates the skin surface, reducing glare and allowing a clear view of structures below
• Magnification of up to 10x helps identify the tiniest spider veins
• The device can be used hands-free, allowing precise needle placement
• Enhanced visualization leads to more complete treatment of problem areas

By using the DermLite Syris, Dr Teo can target spider veins as small as 0.1 mm in diameter. This level of precision means better cosmetic results for you.

What to Expect During Treatment
Microsclerotherapy is performed in the doctor's office and typically takes 15-45 minutes. If required, Dr Teo will meticulously check the area of concern under high frequency ultrasound to target any potential feeder veins first. Following which the spider and reticular veins are identified using the DermLite Syris, very small amounts of sclerosing solution are then injected into each vein using an ultra-fine needle.

Most patients report only mild discomfort during the injections. You'll be able to walk and resume normal activities immediately after. Dr Teo recommends wearing compression stockings for a short time to enhance cosmetic results.

Over the next few weeks, you'll notice the treated veins gradually fading. Multiple sessions spaced about a month apart are often needed for optimal results. With the precision offered by tools like the DermLite Syris, microsclerotherapy can dramatically improve the appearance of spider veins with minimal side effects.
